Class X student’s body found on railway tracks in Mayurbhanj

Baripada: A Class X student was found dead on railway tracks near Machapada under Baisinga police station in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district on Saturday.

The deceased has been identified as Bijaya Nayak, a student of Gopabandhu Sikshya Niketan School in Machapada.

According to reports, Bijaya was spotted on railway tracks with severe injuries early this morning. He was rushed to nearby hospital where the doctor declared him “brought dead”.

On being informed, Baisinga Police seized the body and sent it to Baripada Hospital for autopsy test.

While the exact reason behind the student’s death is yet to be ascertained, it is suspected that the boy was killed after being hit by DMU train at around 5 .00 AM, when he went outside from the hostel to attend nature’s call.

Meanwhile, locals locked the school gate complaining against the teachers for laxity in duty.

The protestors alleged that such a tragic incident occurred due to the absence of hostel warden. “Not a single teacher is staying with the boys in the hostel,” said locals.
