CJI Dipak Misra attends ‘‘PLAQUE OF HONOUR” ceremony in OdishaCuttack: Chief Justice of India (CJI) Justice Dipak Misra on his maiden visit to Odisha attended the ‘‘PLAQUE OF HONOUR” ceremony which was organised for him by Orissa High Court Bar Association in Cuttack today.

The Chief Justice of India attended the special programme on the premises of Orissa High Court in the presence of Justice Vineet Saran, Chief Justice of Orissa High Court, High Court Judges, other office-bearers of the Bar Association, lawyers and other dignitaries.

Notably, this is the first visit of Justice Dipak Misra after he was sworn in as the 45th Chief Justice of India on August 28.

He is the third Odia to hold the prestigious position after Justice Ranganath Mishra and Justice Gopal Ballav Pattan. He succeeded Chief Justice Jagdish Singh Khehar.

Incidentally, he is the nephew of Justice Ranganath Mishra, who was the 21st CJI during 1990-91.

Justice Misra enrolled as an advocate in 1977 and had practised in constitutional, civil, criminal, revenue, service and sales tax matters in the Orissa High Court and Tribunals before being elevated to the High Court bench.

He was appointed Additional Judge of the Orissa High Court in January, 1996, after which he was transferred to the Madhya Pradesh High Court in March, 1997.

In 2009, Justice Misra became the Chief Justice of the Patna High Court and assumed charge as the Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court in May, 2010. He was appointed a Judge of the Supreme Court of India on October 10, 2011.
