Jeypore: Vigilance sleuth today arrested the Malkangiri Civil Supplies Officer (CSO) Abhimanyu Mahanty after unaccounted cash worth Rs 1.91 lakh was found from his vehicle on Saturday.
The official was detained on Saturday after the cash was found from his Innova car while he was on his way to his native place Berhampur.
Vigilance officers of Koraput Division have intercepted his vehicle at Boipariguda between Malkangiri and Jeypore Road. Vigilance officials said that Mahanty failed to give any satisfactory explanation about possession of the cash
“A case has been registered and the CSO has been arrested and forwarded to the court on Sunday. He has been remanded to the judicial custody till August 27. Further investigation in the case is continuing,’ said an official of Vigilance.
