Cuttack: The Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) has come under scanner after the chit fund accused Subhankar Nayak was spotted at the VVIP gallery in the Barabati stadium during the India Vs Sri Lanka T20 international match on Wednesday.

Subhankar, an accused in the multi-crore Seashore Group chit fund scam, was seen in the third row of the VVIP box, which is reserved for the special invitees of the match. However, he managed to get a non-transferable VVIP pass that raised the eye-brows of one and all.

Speaking to Kalinga TV, OCA Working Committee Chairman Dhiren Palai said, “We have distributed the pass to some VIPs and VVIPs of Odisha, BCCI office bearers, relatives of players including spouse of Indian skipper Rohit Sharma. But, we don’t know who Subhankar Nayak is, and OCA has not provided any ticket to him.”

“We can’t say how he got the VVIP pass for the match,” he added.

In August this year, Subhankar had walked out from the jail with a conditional bail on a bond of Rs two lakh and two sureties of the like amount.

Subhankar was accused of liaising with bureaucrats, police and politicians in order to get undue favour for the chit fund company. He was booked under various sections of IPC and those related to Prize, Chits and Money Circulation Scheme (Banning) Act.
