Chilka Special train flagged off
Bhubaneswar: A special train named after Chilika lagoon of Odisha was flagged off Monday. Naval Commander Chilka, Commodore Rituraj Sahu flagged off the ‘Chilka Special Train’ at Chilika Railway Station.
In its maiden journey, the Chilka Special train headed for Delhi carrying around 1100 trainee sailors. This was on the successful completion of their six months training at the Naval Base of Chilka.
Commodore Rituraj Sahu joined as the commanding officer of the Indian Navy’s premier Sailors’ Training Establishment, INS Chilka, as well as the Naval officer-in-charge (Odisha) in March.
Chilka Lagoon is the largest coastal lagoon in India and the second largest coastal lagoon in the world.
