Children Escape Narrowly After Portion Of Roof Collapses In Odisha School

Rourkela: Around 30 school children have a narrow escape after a portion of concrete from the roof collapsed in the classroom of Raghunathpalli Upper Primary School this afternoon.

Teachers of the school said that a portion of concrete fell from two classrooms of the school. “A portion of the concrete first fell in the classroom of standard VI. We immediately shifted the students to another room. A similar incident took place in the classroom of standard I after few hours for which we shifted the students to the verandah,” said a teacher.

The teachers also said that the school building has become old and prone to similar mishaps. “As the school is located near the NH, movement of any large vehicle often leads to similar mishaps. We have intimated the matter to the authorities but they are yet to take any action,” added another teacher.
