Chief Minister Announces Special Package For Street Vendors, Coconut Growers And Poultry Farmers

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today announced a special package of worth Rs 100 crore for street vendors, coconut growers and poultry farmers affected in the cyclone. Patnaik said that the cost will be met from Chief Minister’s Relief Fund and state’s own resource.

As per the announcement street vendors affected by the cyclone will be provided with cash assistance of Rs 10000 each to support the loss of livelihood. As per preliminary estimation around 30000 street vendors were severely affected in the cyclone in 11 Urban Local Bodies.

Similarly, the Chief Minister announced cash assistance of Rs 500 for each damaged coconut tree to affected farmers while a farmer can avail the assistance for maximum 25 coconut trees.

As per the package affected poultry farmers will be provided with an assistance of 75 percent subsidy which will not exceed Rs 1 lakh per unit of 500 birds. As many as 2000 small poultry units are likely to get the benefit.
