Chicken, Tomato prices skyrocket in Odisha! Check rates

1

Bhubaneswar: The chicken prices have witnessed a sharp rise across the State by almost Rs 100. Reportedly, the chicken rate per kilo now cost Rs 260 whereas earlier the cost was around Rs 160- Rs 180.

The customers are buying half the amount they were getting usually due to the increased rate.

The chicken grains and transportation charges have simultaneously increased which has led to the skyrocketing in the price of chicken.

On the other hand, the supply of tomatoes to Bhubaneswar had been suspended for three days due to the cyclone Asani. This has led to an increase in the rates with above Rs 100 now.

A sufficient amount of tomatoes is not being able to be brought to the capital city from Nashik and Raipur due to soaring rates. As a result, some traders have taken the advantage of the situation and raised its price.

Notably, the people in Odisha faced a lot of inconvenience following the rise in the prices of lemons last month. The retail prices of lemons have nearly doubled in Odisha markets during the first week of April.

The State has been the 6 largest producer of lemons in the country for the last four consecutive years.
