Chhattisgarh Maoist surrenders before Odisha Police

Kandhamal: A Maoist from Chhattisgarh surrendered before Odisha police today. The surrendered red rebel has been identified as Ashok Pune of Bijapur district in Chhattisgarh.

According to reports, Ashok was an active member of the Kalahandi-Kandhamal-Boudh-Nayagarh (KKBN) division of the banned CPI (Maoist) in Odisha. He had joined the group six years ago.

Ashok is involved in several Maoist activities. However, he left the organization to join the mainstream of society as the Maoists are turning away from their ideology and surrendered before the Superintendent of Police (SP) of Kandhamal district.

He also appealed to other Maoists to leave violence and join the mainstream of society.
