Chemists’ stir hits healthcare services in Odisha

Protest over online sale of medicine Bhubaneswar: Health services were heavily affected across Odisha due to the 24-hour nationwide strike called by the All India Organisation of Chemists and Druggists.

The chemists have called the bandh protesting the Central government’s decision on the online sale of drugs.

Around 17,000 medicine store owners across the state are participating in the agitation under the banner of Utkal Chemists and Druggists Association (UCDA).

Meanwhile, Health and Family Welfare secretary P K Meherda has directed authorities of medical colleges, state-run hospitals and others to keep adequate quantities of medicines​ under Niramaya scheme.
