Puri: The work for construction of the three chariots of the trinity of Puri for Ratha Yatra 2022 ceremonially commenced today on the occasion of Akshay Trutiya.
A special puja was held at the Ratha Khala on the grand road to mark the beginning of Ratha construction. Also, the famous Chandan Jatra of Lord Jagannath began today.
As per the tradition, the ‘Agnyamala bije’ ritual was performed in the afternoon in which a garland of nod (for commencement of the chariot construction) was ceremonially brought to the Rathakhala. There three ‘Dhaura’ wood logs had been placed that were worshipped.
On this occasion Puri Collector Samarth Verma and Superintendent of Police Vishal Singh were present. Security arrangement had been made for execution of the Ratha Anukula.
Apart from that the Chandan Jatra of Lord Jagannath also began today.
