Central team arrives in Gajapati district for ‘Titli’ damage assessment

Paralakhemundi: A seven-member team of the Central government, led by secretary of Ministry of Home Affairs S.K. Shahi, arrived in cyclone-devastated Gajapati district on Friday to make assessment of the damage caused by the cyclone Titli recently.

The team is currently heading to Baraghara village of Gangabada Panchayat where over a dozen people were killed in a landslide which was triggered by the heavy rain following ‘Titli’ hit. The team is scheduled to hold meetings with senior officials of different departments of the Odisha government at the State secretariat in Bhubaneswar after returning from the visit.

The team in its first phase of visit yesterday visited the cyclone and flood-devastated areas in Patrapur, Surada and Dharakote blocks in Ganjam district. They interacted with the people and block level officials to assess the prevailing situation in the district.
