Cease work strike of NHM staff nurses enters third day in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Health service in different hospitals continued to be affected as the cease work agitation of the staff nurses recruited under National Health Mission (NHM) entered on third day today.

The staff nurses from MKCG Medical College and Hospital, VIMSAR joined the protest which was launched by the staff nurses of SCB Medical College and Hospital on Monday. The contractual nurses began their demonstration to press various demands. However, some of them were admitted to the hospital today after they fell sick while sitting on dharna.

Regularisation of jobs, up-gradation of pay structure and equal pay for equal work with their counterparts working at the state government establishments etc are some of their demands.

Currently, they are getting Rs 10,000 per month while a regular pay scale employee of their stature gets around Rs 35,000 per month across the state.

Meanwhile,a discussion between a delegates of the agitators and Health Minister Pratap Jena is underway at the latter’s residence in Bhubaneswar.
