Bhubaneswar: The Government of Odisha on Monday announced that registration of land deeds will be conducted through cashless system in the state from September 1.

While attending a conference of Assistant Collectors in Bhubaneswar yesterday, State Revenue Minister Maheswar Mohanty announced that land registration process will be cashless from the first of next month.

“Land registration process will be done cashless from September 1. In case of any inconvenience with regard to e-payment, demand draft and cheques will be accepted,” Mohanty told media persons.

“Revenue Inspectors across the state have been directed to hold “Lok Adalat” on second Saturday and Sunday of every month to reduce the inconvenience being faced by people during land mutation and conversion,” he added.

With this move, the stamp duty, registration charges, mutation fee etc., will be paid without the intervention of paper currency. It will prevent unlawful disposal of immovable property and reduce the chances of corruption drastically in the concerned offices, sources in the Revenue department said.
