Cash worth Rs 2.35 lakh seized from car in Balasore, driver detained

Balasore: In a crackdown on ‘suspect cash’ ahead of fourth phase polling in the State, poll flying squad of Election Commission today seized Rs 2.35 lakh from Basta area in Balasore district.

The unaccounted cash came to light while a motor vehicle inspection by the squad was underway this morning. After intercepting and searching a vehicle driven by Naikudi panchayat sarpanch’s husband the team came across the money and seized those.

Similarly, posters and banners belonging to a particular political party was also found from the same vehicle.

Driver of the vehicle has been detained by police for further investigation on the source of the money.
