Balasore: Carcass of a Bottle Nose dolphin was found today on Talasari beach in the district.
Locals said that the carcass was spotted this morning and they immediately informed the forest officials.
“We suspect the dolphins of dying after being hit by fishing trawler. We will also conduct a postmortem to ascertain the exact cause of death,” said a forest official.
A total of 16 Bottle Nose dolphins were counted in the state during the annual census in January this year. Out of these, 2 were sighted in Balasore and 14 in Gahirmatha in Kendrapara district.
Earlier on Saturday carcasses of three dolphins were found on Pentha beach in Pattamundai of Kendrapara district.
