Car carrying West Bengal tourists falls off bridge in Kandhamal, 5 critical

Phulbani: At least five persons sustained critical injuries after a vehicle carrying them fell off the Gudrimera ghati under Daringbadi Police Station area here this morning.

The injured have been identified as Jagannath Sahoo of Puri district, Debasis Dutta, Subarna Dutta, Bela Dutta and a minor from Howrah of West Bengal State whose identity is unknown.

The victim Debasis Dutta who had visited Puri along with his family a couple of days back yesterday arrived at Daringbadi of Kandhamal and was en-route to Brahmanigaon in his car bearing Registration Number WB 16 AY 2624 when the mishap took place. Driver of the car lost control over the wheels causing it to fall from a height of 20 feet off Gudrimera Ghati leaving the travellers injured.

Getting information, a police team under Daringbadi IIC Alekh Garadia rushed to the spot and sent the injured to local CHC. Later, they were shifted to MKCG Medical in Berhampur for better treatment.

Police have seized the mangled car and lodged a case in the incident.
