Anandpur: Launching a crackdown on wood mafia in the State forest officials seized a car carrying sized timber worth lakhs of rupees by conducting a raid on Madanpur road under Ramachadrapur Section of Anandpur Forest Range in Keonjhar district today.
At least two persons including Sanjay Dhal and Manoranjan Moharana of Alati village was taken into custody during the raid.
Acting upon a tip-off on the illegal timber consignment and post an order from Anandpur Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) a team of forest officials intercepted and seized a Tata Nano (Registration Number-OD 02 C 6064) which was carrying sized sal timbers near Madanpur village.
While the arrested accused have been forwarded to court, the Forest Department is planning more raids in the future.
