Jajpur: At least seven passengers sustained injuries after a speeding truck hit a pilgrim bus at Panikoili tollgate on National Highway-16 in Jajpur district today.
As per the report, the bus namely ‘Jai Matadi’ with passengers from Puri was en-route to Kolkata in the neighbouring West Bengal state when the crash took place this evening. Driver of the speeding truck which was travelling in the opposite direction lost control over the wheels and ended up hitting the bus from front.
Seven persons who were boarding the bus including the driver sustained injury in the crash which left the vehicle mangled.
Panikoili Police rushed to the spot following the mishap and admitted the injured to Jajpur District Headquarters Hospital (DHH).
An investigation has been launched by police to trace the truck involved in the accident as it managed to flee from the spot.
