Bus strike called off after discussion in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: In a major relief to the bus passengers, the All Odisha Private Bus Owners’ Association (AOPBOA) called off its indefinite strike after discussion with the state government on Wednesday.

Debasish Nayak, spokesperson of AOPBOA, informed after a general body meeting of the union that they have decided to withdraw their strike as the state government has assured to address their demands.

Notably, the AOPBWA had called for an indefinite strike across the state to press its 11-point-charter of demands including toll exemption, clarity on route map of 300 city buses and also rollback of hike in motor vehicle tax.

Passengers and daily commuters had to suffered immense inconvenience as more than 17,000 private buses under the banner of AOPBWA remained off the roads today.
