Gajapati: Bus services on different routes from Paralakhemundi in Gajapati district has been disrupted since Wednesday morning following an agitation by the Gajapati Motor Employees’ Association at the Paralakhemundi bus stand.
The agitators demanded fulfilment of its five-point charter of demands. The demands include the closure of a liquor shop near the bus stand, action against bus owners using kerosene instead of petrol and ban on old buses unfit for ferrying of passengers. Besides the association demanded to set up a ticket counter near the bus stand to provide information related to timings of buses.
Hundreds of passengers have remained stranded at the bus stand due to the agitation. Passengers demanded the immediate intervention of the authorities to resume the bus service.
