Bus owner injured in firing at Baramunda bus stand in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: A private bus owner sustained critical bullet injuries after a group of miscreants opened fire at him at Baramunda bus stand in the city last night.

The injured has been identified as Pritam Jena Mani, owner of the ‘Sampark’ bus. He received gun shots on his right shoulder and belly and was shifted to a private hospital in serious condition.

As per the eyewitnesses, at least four persons arrived at the bus stand by boarding a Mahindra Bolero late in the night and fired indiscriminately at Pritam before fleeing from the spot.

While the cause behind the attack on the bus owner is yet to be ascertained fellow bus owners have suspected the role of past enmity behind it.

As the victim was holding the lease of Khandagiri Bari tourist bus stand, he might have been targeted over tender related disputes, they said.

Khandagiri Police has started investigation into the incident and is trying to trace the attackers.
