Bus falls off bridge over Mahanadi River: Odisha CM announces ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each

Cuttack: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday expressed his deep grief over the death of the 12 passengers who lost their lives after a bus they were traveling fell off bridge over Mahanadi River. Besides, he announced ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each for the next of the kin of the deceased.

This apart, Patnaik announced free treatment for all those injured in the incident.

The CM also has directed Health Minister Pratap Jena to take stock of the situation.

On the other hand, the death in the case is likely to go up as at least eight of the injured are undergoing treatment in the ICU of SCB Medical College and Hospital.

The private bus named ‘Jagannath’ (OD35 A 0211) fell 30 feet below into the river bed after hitting a buffalo while it was on its way to Cuttack from Talcher.
