She was rescued alive by locals at Sanajharan of Bonai in the district on Saturday.

Though police are yet to identify the baby’s parents, it is suspected that her parents might have buried the newborn below neck as it turned out be a girl.

According to reports, some Sanajharan villagers had gone to the nearby forest for some work when hey heard the cries of an infant.
