Brown Sugar worth Rs. 65 lakh seized in Khordha, 3 held

Khordha: In a big success, Police seized 654 gram of brown sugar worth about Rs. 65 lakh in Khordha district of Odisha on Monday. As many as three persons have been arrested in this connection.

The three arrested persons have been identified as Sangram Panda of Khallikote in Ganjam district, Amit Kumar Sahu of Rambha and Birendra Sahu of Bhaliabadi in Khurda district.

As per reports, acting on a tip-off, Town police conducted a sudden raid near Reliance Petrol Pump on National Highway-16 on Khurda bypass road and seized contraband of brown sugar from a vehicle.

Police arrested three persons in this connection and also seized 654gm brown sugar from their possession along with Rs 95,000 in cash and six mobile phones.

The cost of the seized brown sugar is around Rs 66 lakh, police said.
