Jaleswar: Continuing with its crackdown on illegal narcotic trade in Balsore district, Excise officials today arrested a peddler and seized brown sugar weighing 13 gram from his possession after conducting a raid at Jaleswar railway station.
The held peddler has been identified as P Santosh, a native of Bhadrak district.
Acting upon a tip-off a team of anti-narcotic officials began the raid at 5 AM in the morning and took the accused into custody after seizing a packet of the banned drug.
“The seized brown sugar will cost around Rs 1.5 lakh. The peddler was sending the consignment to Bhadrak via Jaleswar from Jhadeswar slum,” informed an Excise official.
The held peddler has been charged under relevant Sections of NDPS Act following the arrest and his questioning is underway.
