Khordha: Tightening the noose around the necks of the illegal drug traders in the district, the Commissionerate Police today arrested two drug peddlers from Jatni area on the outskirts of the city and arrested brown sugar worth Rs 1.5 lakh from their possession.
Acting upon a tip-off, the Quick Action Team (QAT) of the Commissionerate Police assisted by Jatni Police raided a house located in Pitapali area in the afternoon. During the raid the police team found a packet containing brown sugar weighing approximately 15 gram and seized that. Later, it took two persons into custody.
A bike and cash worth over Rs 1 lakh was also seized from the possession of the arrested peddlers, informed police.
Police have started interrogation of the arrested persons to examine the involvement of a bigger racket in the narcotics trade.
