Brown sugar worth over Rs 42 lakhs seized in Odisha’s Cuttack district, 1 arrested

Cuttack: Around 420 grams of brown sugar worth around Rs 42 lakhs was seized during a raid at Phul Nakhara Chowk under Sadar PS Of Cuttack district by a team of the State Flying Squad on Thursday.

As per reports during a raid conducted by the State Excise Flying Squad one brown sugar case was detected at Phul Nakhara Chowk under Sadar Police Station of Cuttack district today.

One person of Niali was arrested in this connection. He has been identified as Samarendra Mohanty of Erancha village under Niali Tehsil of Odisha.

A case has been registered against the accused in this connection while the brown sugar consignment was seized from his possession.

It is to be noted that earlier this week Police had seized brown sugar worth around Rs 25 lakh from Jhadeswarpur slum under Jaleswar Police station limits of Odisha’s Balasore district and arrested two persons including a kingpin of the drug business.
