Brown sugar worth 26 lakh seized in Cuttack, 3 arrested

Cuttack: The chain of massive drug haul continues in the State where Odisha Police seized 268 gms of brown sugar from near Daragha Bazaar area in Cuttack city and arrested three youths in this connection, informed Cuttack DCP Prateek Singh.

Based on a reliable information, the police conducted a raid at field near Daragha Bazaar area in Cuttack  and seized 268 gms of brown sugar.

The cops have seized three mobile phones, Rs 20,000 cash and two bikes from their possession.

The estimated cost of the seized brown sugar is worth Rs 26 lakhs, said reports.

In 2021, more than four kgs of brown sugar have been seized while drugs worth more than four crore rupees. As many as 3o smugglers have been arrested in relation with 16 cases. ” There are no high level dealers of drugs in Cuttack,” added DCP Singh.

Earlier in August a similar case took place in Cuttack where six smugglers were arrested after the Lalbag Police and Special Squad conducted a joint raid seized 1 kg 159 gms of brown sugar. The price of the seized brown sugar is estimated to be worth more than one crore rupees.
