Bridge construction surveyor goes missing in Pangam river of Malkangiri

Malkangiri: A worker engaged in survey work for the upcoming Pangam river bridge construction project under Mathili police station here went missing in water after falling into it this morning.

The victim has been identified as Soubhagya, a resident of state capital Bhubaneswar and an employee of one private firm.

As per the report, the water level survey work for Pangam river bridge was underway in the district since past few days and a four-member team of surveyors from Bhubaneswar had been brought for the purpose.

While carrying out his duty this morning along with colleagues Soubhagya lost control and fell into the river water to get swept away by strong current.

Police and fire services personnel rushed to the spot immediately and launched a rescue operation to trace the victim.

The victim couldn’t have been found till this report was being filed.

The new bridge has been planned in place of the existing Pangam Bridge as a part of the ongoing expansion work of Ranchi-Vijaywada National Highway (NH)-36.
