Kendrapara: In a show of indomitable courage a minor boy saved his friend from the clutches of death by rescuing him from drowning in the sea near Pentha beach under Rajnagar block here yesterday.
The incident came to light after a video featuring the brave act went viral on social media today.
As per the report, the brave boy identified as Gyanaranjan of Pentha area had been to sea beach along with his friend Prithviraj Behera and two others at around 11 am yesterday. However, they planned to take a bath in the sea later following which the mishap took place.
While taking bath Prithiviraj was swept away into the sea due to high tide. Spotting his friend in trouble Gyana dove into the water even without having a second thought and dragged the victim to the shore post a struggle with the tides.
“While trying to save my friend I felt like being swept away with him into the deep water for several occasions but kept fighting and finally drove him out,” said Gyana in his reaction to media later.
The brave boy who is pursuing his study in Class X in his village school has won accolades for his great effort.
