Brajarajnagar by-poll: Filing of nomination begins, to continue till May 11

Jharsuguda: Filing of nomination papers for the by-election to Brajarajnagar assembly seat in Jharsuguda district of Odisha began from today following issuance of formal notification by the Returning Officer cum Jharsuguda Sub-collector. The filing of nominations will continue till May 11.

“Nomination papers may be delivered by a candidate or any of his proposers to the returning officer or to Biswakeshan Pandey, OAS, assistant returning officer, at the sub-collector office, Jharsuguda between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. on any day (other than public holiday) not later than the scheduled date i.e May 11, 2022 (Wednesday).” read the notification issued by the Returning Officer.

Booth Details: There is a total No. of 257 Polling Stations under 06-Brajarajnagar Assembly Constituency. Considering the ceiling of 1250 Electors per booth, as communicated by ECI, 22 nos. of Auxiliary Booths have been created to facilitate the poll during the bye-election.

Guidelines to be followed for COVID-19: As per the De-Notification Order issued by O/O-SRC, Odisha dated 28.03.2022 wherever any surge in the number of COVID-19 cases is observed the H & FW Department, Govt. of Odisha will intervene. We will follow the advisory if any issued by the H & FW Department as well as existing instructions of ECI during the course of bye-election.

However, on the day of poll every voter will be advised and required to come with Face Masks. Thermal Scaning of each voter will be done at entry points as was followed during the last Bye Elections in 2020 & 2021. Hand sanitizers will be applied to each voter before entering the booth.

Publication of Information regarding Criminal Antecedents: Candidates with criminal antecedents are required to publish information in this regard in newspapers and through Television channels on three occasions during the campaign period. A political party that sets up candidates with criminal antecedents is also required to publish information about the criminal background of its candidates, both on its website and also in newspapers and Television channels on three occasions.
