Keonjhar: A boy hacked a girl schoolmate of City School at Fakirpur with a sharp weapon over unrequited love today.
According to reports, the accused, angered over the girl’s denial to his proposal, attacked her while she was on her way to the school. Some locals rescued the girl after she cried for help.
The girl, who sustained grievous injuries on different parts of her body, was initially admitted to Anandapur hospital and later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack for further treatment.
“The boy used to follow me and even proposed me some days ago. But I had denied his proposal. Today, he attacked me with a sharp weapon when I was going to the school at 10 am,” said the girl.
Speaking about the girl’s condition, the doctor who attended her in Anandpur hospital said, “The girl has sustained injuries on her thigh, left hand and below the knee. Though her condition is not critical, I have referred her to Cuttack hospital for better treatment.”
Meanwhile, the local police have started an investigation into the matter. They have detained the youth for interrogation.
