Boy Drowns In Swimming Pool Of Posh Club In Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: In a tragic incident, a 15-year-old boy allegedly drowned in the swimming pool of a posh club near AG Square under Capital police limits this morning. The deceased has been identified as Sambit Sahu, a resident of Dumuduma, on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar.

Sources said that the deceased slipped into the pool having a depth of around five feet in the morning while learning swimming. He was later rescued by a trainer and was immediately rushed to the Capital Hospital where he was declared received dead.

Family members of the deceased however alleged negligence on the part of the authorities of the club as the incident took place in the presence of trainers. Family members said that the deceased has been visiting the club for the last five days to learn swimming.

On the other hand, police claimed that the deceased died of fits. “We examined the CCTV of the pool and found that the boy came out of the pool and was sitting on the edge when he suddenly fell in the pool. His family members also said that he was suffering from fits. We have started an investigation after registering a case of unnatural death,” said a police official.
