Bonai: In a tragic incident a seven-year-old boy died after a wall collapsed when an elephant tried to enter a house in Baraghat village under Bonai forest range late last night.
The deceased minor has been identified as Surendra Patra’s Rakesh.
According to Rakesh’s grandfather, the family members were fast asleep when a wild tusker tried to enter the house to eat paddy, following which a portion of the wall collapsed on Rakesh. He was rushed to Bonai Sub-Divisional Hospital in a critical condition; however, doctors who attended the boy declared him brought dead.
While Forest officials have launched an operation to drive away the elephant from the area, police have started an investigation into the matter.
