Bombing, Firing at Brahmagiri over previous enmity, 2 critical

Brahmagiri: Bombs were hurled and around 10 shots were fired at Danduasaipada area under Brahmagiri police limits in Puri district following a clash post-Holi celebrations on Saturday and two youth sustained injuries.

Report says, two local youths were on their way to buy chicken, when they were allegedly attacked by their rival groups over previous enmity. Following which there was clash between the two groups. As a result of which bombs were hurled and 10 rounds of bullets were shot in the evening hours.

Two youth sustained serious injuries and were immediately rushed to the hospital for medical treatment.

Most of the people have deserted the village fearing arrest by the police. One platoon of police force has been deployed to maintain law and order in the area and police have recovered 3 live bombs from the village.

Earlier, On February 9, over political discussions there was tension in the village and at least six persons were injured in bombing and stone pelting incident.  Later, six persons were arrested in connection with the incident the next day and all of them were released on conditional bail on February 21.

On February 24, a series of bombs were hurled in the area and 21 persons were arrested by police.
