Later, goods trains were also detained as a mark of the protest.

“We demand that railway department should start track construction work for Bolangir-Nuapada rail route immediately as the project is pending since 2014,” said a member of Patnagarh Citizen Forum.

“Eeven 3 years after the approval of the project, the state government has not started the land acquisition process for the new tracks that triggered to observe the protest”, he added.

Due to the protest, railway traffic on Titlagarh-Sambalpur route was completely disrupted giving a tough time to commuters.

The 100 kilometer-long Bolangir Nuapada route would pass through Hardatal, Chudapali, Patnagarh and Harisankar.
