Bolero-truck crash leaves 2 Bol Bam devotees dead in Mayurbhanj

Baripada: At least two Bol Bam devotees were killed and eight others sustained injuries after a SUV which they were boarding was hit by a speeding truck near Duarasuni Ghat under Bangiriposi police limits in Mayurbhanj district last night.

The deceased duo has been identified as Ranjit Ram and Sibu Sahu. Both are residents of Handa village under Bangiriposi area.

As per the report, the victims were en-route to Gupteshwar to offer holy water to the deity late in the night when the mishap took place. The Mahindra Bolero they were boarding was climbing the Duarasuni ghat when a speeding truck coming from the opposite direction came extremely right to hit from the front.

The impact of the collision was so serious that the Bolero skidded off the road and fell from a height of over 10 feet.

Bangiriposi Police and fire services personnel rescued the victims from the mangled SUV by reaching the spot later and rushed them to Pandit Raghunath Murmu Medical College and Hospital in Baripada for treatment.

Police have also seized the mangled vehicles after reaching the spot and started investigation.
