Cuttack: The body of an engineering student, who had gone missing while bathing in the Kathajodi river on Sunday afternoon, was fished out from the Naraj Anicut on Monday.
The deceased has been identified as Vickey Kumar (22), a native of Jharkhand.
A student of a Bhubaneswar-based private engineering college, Kumar, along with four of his friends, had gone to take bath in Kathajodi river at 12 pm yesterday.
However, he accidentally slipped into deep waters and was swept away by the strong water current.
Post the incident, Vickey’s friends alerted the fire department following which a seven-member team reached the spot and started a rescue operation to trace him.
