Body of man swept away in Ganjam flash flood recovered, 5 still missing

Berhampur: Body of a man who had been swept away by flood water along with five other while resting on an Indira Awas house in Bhutapankal village under Gajalbadi panchayat in Ganjam district was recovered today.

The deceased has been identified as Prafulla Mallick of the same village.

Prafulla along with five others including two elderly persons of a family had been swept away by flash flood of Adangi river yesterday, hours after cyclone ‘Titli’ made a landfall on Odisha-north Andhra Pradesh coasts near Palasa in Srikakulam district between 4.30 AM and 5.30 AM.

Ganjam Collector Vijay Amruta Kulange ordered for a massive search operation to rescue the victim following the incident.

While one person’s body was recovered this morning, search to find out the rest, who still remain untraceable, is underway.
