Angul murderAngul: Unidentified assailants killed a couple by slitting their throats at Gambharimulia village under Kishorenagar police limits in the district on Monday night. The 10-year-old son of the couple was also found missing from the house.

The deceased have been identified as Biranchi Nayak and his wife Tarani Nayak.

The brutal killing came to fore this morning after some neighbours of the family found Tarani’s dead body lying in her house and her husband and 10-year-old son missing. However, her one-year-old daughter was found alive in the house. They immediately called up the Kishorenagar Police, which started an investigation. A few minutes later, Biranchi’s body was found under the Guriamunda bridge near Pokanda village under Thakurgad police limits, which is 75 kilometres away from his home.

While the motive of the assailants behind the murder is still not clear, some neighbours of the victim couple claimed that Biranchi, who was into a tent house business, had drawn a loan of Rs 1.75 lakh from the bank on the day of the incident. They said the attack could have taken place to loot the money.

Angul SP Brajesh Kumar Rai informed that a police team headed by an SDPO had been formed to probe the case.

“Scientific team and dog squad have been rushed to the spot and an investigation has started. We would soon trace the missing son of the couple,” said Rai while talking to media persons.

The incident has spread shock waves in the whole area.
