Bhubaneswar: The raid of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) against the Single Use Plastic continued for the second consecutive day in Bhubaneswar today.
The BMC squad checked for the banned plastic items from Rajmahal to Master Canteen Square. A total of 30 vending units were inspected during the raid and an amount of Rs 7000 fine was collected from 8 vendors. Likewise, they seized 15 kgs of polythene during the raid.
It is observed that vendors hired their polythene and banned items while the squad proceeded. Many passed on information to fellow vendors about the squad visit. However, the civic body said that the raid will continue with more squad and awareness have been planned to disseminate the message to all sections of the city.
