BMC To Register Cesspool Vehicles In Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has decided to register the cesspool vehicles to prevent these vehicles from discharging faecal waste in public space.

The civic body has also decided to equip 50 of such vehicles with GPS, volume sensors and RFID Tag free of cost on first come first serve basis till August 15.

A meeting on enforcing Faecal Sludge and Septage Management (FSSM) regulation 2018 in Bhubaneswar was chaired by BMC commissioner today.

BMC officials said that unregistered cesspool vehicles will be imposed a penalty of Rs 50000 after August 15. “The owners will also have to fix GPS and RFID apparatus on their own. A joint enforcement squad consisting of BMC, Commissionerate Police and RTO will crackdown on the unregistered cesspool vehicles,” said a BMC official.
