Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has seized one private cesspool vehicle at Gadakana, while it was emptying near a public place. The civic body also imposed a penalty of Rs 7000 to the owner of the vehicle.

“The vehicle owner was also asked to furnish a written undertaking not to repeat the same offence in future,’’ said ZDC (North Zone) Pramod Kumar Prusty.

Deputy Commissioner (Sanitation) Srimanta Kumar Mishra said that the civic body will initiate legal steps to deal with the violators of the septage vehicle owners to send a strong message to the violators who make the city unclean.

BMC officials said that while giving stress to all the elements of cleanliness for the city, steps have also been initiated for strict implementation of the septage management rules.

“Regular enforcement has started all across the city and it would help in behaviour change of the citizens, those illegally handling the septage,’’ said BMC Commissioner Prem Chandra Chaudhary.

“`While the Zonal Deputy Commissioners (ZDCs) and their enforcement squads are visiting the areas regularly taking actions besides creating awareness on the cleanliness practice, violators will be severely punished as per the Septage Management rules,’’ the BMC Commissioner added.
