Blot on Khaki: Bargarh businessman robbed off Rs 4.5 lakh by PCR van staff

Bargarh: In an incident denting the police’s image, a businessman from the district on Monday lodged a case against a PCR team of Bargarh Sadar Police Station accusing it of looting around Rs 4.5 lakh from him.

As per the complaint identified as Nandalal Prasad of Paikamal area, at least four members of a police PCR team intercepted a passenger bus in which he was traveling to Sambalpur in a business related work last night. Later, the cops took him with them to the Sadar Police Station and snatched away all his money.

After all his requests to the cops to return his money fell on deaf ears, the victim businessman lodged a complaint with Sadar Police later last night.

“We have received a complaint on our PCR team’s involvement in the loot and examining it. Action would be initiated against those found guilty in the incident,” assured Suresh Kumar Nayak, SDPO, Bargarh.
