Block Grant Teachers’ Agitation enters 13th Day

Bhubaneswar: Block grant school and college teachers marked the 13th day of their ongoiing agitation with a grand meeting in Bhubaneswar on Monday where they threatened to intensify the protest further.

Around 4000 Head Masters of schools joined the grand rally organised to press the demand for abolition of the block grant system and implementation of other service related benefits.

Principals of around 1500 colleges also participated in the agitation today.

Pradeep Mahala, president of Block Grant Teachers’ Association, stated that the demonstration would be intensified further if the government doesn’t pay heed to the demands.of the teachers.

The teachers and lecturers are staging the dharna under the banner of the Odisha School College United Teachers and Employees’ Association.

For the last 13 days, the teachers in the Block Grant schools have been taking turns to join the demonstration to make sure studies are not completely disrupted by the agitation.
