BK Sharma assumes office as Odisha Police DG

Cuttack: 1986 batch IPS officer BK Sharma assumed his office as the Director General of Odisha Police here today.

Sharma will be in charge of Odisha Police chief in addition to his incumbent positions as Special DG (Fire Services & Home Guard) and Civil Defence. He will remain in the post till further order.

Yesterday, Odisha Government announced Sharma’s appointment as the Director General of Police (DGP) and Head of Police Force (HoPF) after outgoing DGP RP Sharma was selected as a Lokayukta member.

Notably, BK Sharma has served as Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Twin City Police Commissioner from May 2008 to May 2012. He also served in the Crime Branch for seven long years as IG, Additional DG and Special DG.
