BJP’s Balasore LS candidate Pratap Sarangi locked up by party workers
Balasore: Resentment among the workers of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over-allotment of party tickets continues in Odisha with the election just round the corner. Several workers of the saffron party workers locked up party’s Balasore Lok Sabha candidate Pratap Sarangi today.
According to reports, Sarangi was locked up in a room in Bhograi by his own party workers who were opposing BJP ticket to Manas Mohanty.
It is worthwhile to mention here that some party activists staged a demonstration soon after the lotus party named Manas Mohanty yesterday as its candidate for the Bhograi Assembly constituency for the upcoming election.
On being informed about the incident, party’s Balasore LS candidate Pratap Sarangi had gone to Bhograi to placate the agitating workers. However, he was detained by the protestors after his meeting with them failed.
The demonstrators also threatened to tender mass resignation if Mohanty is replaced by another local ticket aspirant, who is worthy.
Earlier in the day, two BJP leaders from the district Shyam Prasad Behera, BJP’s National Council member, and Ajay Sahoo, party’s Balasore district General Secretary resigned from the party expressing discontent over ticket allotment for ensuing polls.
While Behera resigned from the BJP after the party nominated former Biju Janata Dal (BJD) leader Raghunath Mohanty from Basta to contest the assembly polls, Sahoo also tendered his resignation expressing discontent over ticket allotment for the 2019 polls.
