BJP’s 24-hour Bandh hits normal life in Khamar

Angul: Normal life crippled in Khamar panchayat under Pallahara block of Angul district in Odisha on Saturday following a 24-hour bandh called by the BJP to press their two-point charter of demands.

The saffron party’s demands include immediate fill up of doctors at the local hospital and disbursement of crop insurance compensation to the farmers.

Vehicular traffic on the roads came to a grinding halt on NH-149 near Khamar area as the protestors staged a road blockade on the highway. Educational institutions and business establishments also remained closed due to the bandh.

“Health services in our area have been badly affected due to the shortage of doctors and other medical staff in Khamar Hospital for a long period time,” said a local BJP leader.

The party also challenged the State Government to fill up the doctors and other staff members in the hospital at the earliest, or else it will intensify the protest in the days ahead.
