BJP workers pelt stones at Police, Cops injured during protest at Lower PMG in Bhubaneswar: Watch

Bhubaneswar: Violent scenes were witnessed today in the capital city of Odisha during the protest by the BJP workers for justice in the Mamita Meher case. The protesters and Police faced off at Lower PMG. A few Police personnel got injured as the protesters allegedly pelted stones at police.

As per reports, large number of Bharatiya Janata Party workers set out in a rally from the party office and reached Lower PMG demanding action in the Mamita Meher murder case.

However, the scene reportedly turned violent as the protestors tried to climb and break the barricade so that they can gherao the Odisha Legislative Assembly.

Accordingly, clash erupted between the BJP workers and Police personnel. The protesters pelted stones at police. As a result a few Police personnel sustained injury. The protesters also vandalised a police vehicle.

Bhubaneswar DCP Umashankar Das said that investigation will be carried out on the basis of CCTV footage. The situation is under control now. The protesters have been evacuated from Lower PMG area. Some BJP workers have been arrested in this connection.
